Gut Bacteria in CHILDREN with IBS VS. HEALTHY CHILDREN

VERY GOOD ARTICLE THAT DISCUSSES CHILDREN WITH IBS COMPARED WITH HEALTHY CHILDREN.  WHAT DIFFERENCES ARE FOUND IN THE INTESTINES?  RESEARCHERS AND DOCTORS REPORT THEIR FINDINGS.

ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS
Gut Microbial Enterotypes and Dietary Patterns
Diet can affect health by modulating gut microbiome composition, and University of Pennsylvania researchers reported that certain microbial enterotype states are associated with long-term dietary patterns (Wu GD et al. Science 2011;334:105-108).

"Senior study author Robert Shulman, MD, professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, explained that “this does not necessarily mean that the bacteria cause the pain, but that children with IBS have certain species of bacteria that are less likely to be found in the intestines of healthy children"
